Internship
I interned for the University of Washington's Office of Capital and Space
Management in the spring quarter of 2018. This position gave me experience
working with architectural floorplans. The work included learning to read
and understand architectural floorplans, organizing and conducting
walk-throughs of university buildings, and updating the architectural
floorplans in the university's database using GeoSims software. Other tasks
included creating a standard operating procedure notebook to be passed
on to future interns and employees.
I was able to work with several staff in the office who had been doing
this work for several years and taught me how to do the work in a
professional and efficient manner. They taught me some of their standard
business practices and I will take these lessons with me in my future
career. If I ever work with or encounter architectural floorplans
again I will understand how to read them and be comfortable due
to my experience in this internship.
